Hi, I'm running Ubuntu 14, just installed from DVD today for the sole purpose of running BOINC. I have BOINC client and manager installed and my computer is happily running SETI at home. However, I am trying to have the cool graphical screen saver run, so I installed xscreensaver and followed the configuration as per the BOINC instructions (boincscr -root). When I try run it, Ubuntu cannot find the boincscr file and the screen saver doesn't run. I've tried to find boincscr and it doesn't seem to be on the machine. I can't find a package for it either. Any ideas on how I can get this screen saver thing working in Ubuntu? Thanks, Brian |

It seems that boinc package in ubuntu repositories doesn't include the boincscr file. boincscr is included in the archive, which can be downloaded here http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php I've copied the boincscr file from the archive to /etc/bin/ and it works for some projects now (at least for Einshtein@home). But it doesn't work for seti@home, and here they write that it won't: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=8727&postid=51595#51595 |
