A couple of days ago all the tasks showed as either 'waiting to run' or 'ready to start'. Up till then tasks running as normal. No settings have been changed on that PC and it is not actively used by any one, the only thing it's doing is BOINC. I have even set the activity to 'run always' but nothing is starting. Any help appreciated.

On advanced view, goto tools-> computing preferences -> processor usage.
be sure to check the box "While computer is in use".

If that was the problem, recheck the Boinc settings on your account of the websites of your projects.

I've had this problem when adding a new project - and the new preferences were downloaded.

I went on to all projects and made sure that the prefrences were the same as my local ones, no joy, still not running. Found out from the BOINC manager help (where I should have looked first) that sometimes a project can become stuck. It suggested a reset of the project and now all is running again.
