I think Eric's on vacation. I'll wait another day and then ask David. |

I still haven't been able to clear out all the damage done in the hack attempt. I'm out of town again, so it won't get dealt with until I get back into town. We still need the site for our collaboration with the folks at FAST, so it will be back up eventually.Patience, people. |

Afraid of weather. We are likely to have a hosepipe ban in our area soon. My arms are going to get very stretched carrying watering cans on our allotment as it is. Having to carry them in the garden as well will be a pain. |

Yes, words hurt. The weather, not so much. Awaiting a week of 30C+ here. |

We have 31 now, going up to 32 today according to accuweather, 31 the peak according to BBC and Met Office. I enquired about a reversible air to air heat pumps for our loft bedroom. First available appointment for survey, October. |

How high is the Relative Humidity at those temperatures?Over the course of today, High 63%, low 20%. I have the car charging now before it is in full sun which slows it down even on the granny charger. |

In reply to Dave's message of 9 Jul 2026: Over the course of today, High 63%, low 20%.So very low. A RH below 40% will allow the evaporative cooler to drop the temperature by around 10°c. And it gives you a chance to save up for a reverse cycle air conditioner- cool you down in the summer and keep you warm in the winter. Grant Darwin NT. |

All mobile airconditioning units in the Netherlands in price range €300-€800 are sold out. Even fans are hard to come by. |

Maybe, but it's always better than trying to sleep in a 27C+ room. Especially if it smells after downstairs ashtray. 😡 |

an evaporative cooler will be effective...let it's output leave the room. I used a portable one down in Arizona where I winter, and yes the humidity would skyrocket when I turned it on. It finally gave up the ghost so I bought a, used, tiny window AC unit. Here in Anchorage there's AC in large office type building, but I don't know of anyone with it in their homes. It's 0730 and 56F/13.3C outside. |
