Hello. I have recently installed BOINC on my computer and set it to run at 90% memory usage and 100% cpu when I was away and at about 50% cpu when my cpu usage was below 20%. However, when doing tasks on the computer such as simply browsing the internet, It crashed two times and gave me blue screen errors. I would like to keep BOINC on my computer but will not keep it if it causes my computer to crash. I believe minidump files were created when it crashed but do not know how to access them or understand them. I'm running windows 7 64-bit on a laptop with 2 gigabytes of ram. Any help would be appreciated. As of now, I disallowed BOINC from running until I can fix this problem. Thank you. Ameobea |

I found the .dmp files and posted them to google docs - https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwpkofV4VJoVamg1ZTlxaGtRS09tMzVjSHMwZWtpQQ is the download link. Thanks for the help! |

ok well I found a program to examine those dmp files and found that my anti-virus program real-time scanner .sys file is the culprit. I haven't had this error before getting BOINC and also haven't had it since I uninstalled BOINC so I am wondering if my anti-virus is interfeering with BOINC or if it is an error on its own. For now, I have disabled my antivirus real-time and am re-installing boinc. If anyone knows of a case where antivirus can interfere with BOINC I would greatly appreciate it. I am using CA Total Defense. I would like to know if there was maybe a way to keep the realtime scanner active without bothering BOINC and causing a bluescreen. If there are still bluescreens without the realtime, I will post back. Thank you |
