I don't have much space on C: (25MB in fact) so I try to install to a spare disk G: I change the destinations of BOINC and DATA and install and it claims that it needs
13MB on C: where there is only 11MB. Why does it need any on C: and why is it wrong about hos much spare there is?

I can only assume that the disk space constraints it is talking about is due to the Windows installer (MSIExec.exe) needing temporary space to work in and/or use of the page file.
