Hello, I would like to ask anybody if there is a possibility to adapt Boinc client onto NEC sx-6A/8 supercomputer. It use SUPER-UX verse R13.1 (UNIX based). Maybe will have possibility to run this 8 CPU machine (they report (4x8 = 32GFLOPs). It only use vector processors, probably different architecture then standard Intel and contain sw for batch job processing. Do you think it's a benefit to have that machine connected to BOINC projects ? Thank you for answer. Martin |

BOINC would be easy. But it's the science applications that do the work, so one or more projects would need to have access to one of these computers, along with someone who knows how to program that machine, and the time and money to create a new version of their project for it. So it's unlikely to happen, unless you do all of this yourself. |

If you are interested in porting BOINC and SETI, I can assist you by the compiling and porting process. |

I'm gonna buy that machine to connect it to the BOINC project. When I have it will contact you for help. It can take a 9 months to have it installed just my question was about the benefits. Hope it will help. Currently the machine has 8 CPU and run sw to predict wheather forecasts and count models of wheather. It use 2 linux machines (2-4x intel XEON) with standard linux for compiling sources, because it's more effective then compilator on SX itself. When it's compiled, sent to the SX as a batch and start. (it's amazingly fast). |
