Originally, Boinc icon with red covering it is visible is systray. Right click and close it. Go to Windows Explorer and launch boinc.exe. Dos shell appears and disappears. TaskManager under "Applications" shows Boinc status as "Running". TaskManager under "Processes" shows boinctray.exe TaskManager under "Services" shows Boinc as "Stopped", "Group" is "N/A"/ What happens if you launch boinc.exe from Windows Explorer? "Boinc manager is not able to start a Boinc client" ... "Please... start the Boinc service" If boinc.exe continues to run, is BOINC Manager able to connect to it? |

"Boinc manager is not able to start a Boinc client" ... "Please... start the Boinc service" Subsequent question from me, what happens if you set the BOINC service to start manually and then start BOINC Manager? In my case the service will start, what does it do on your system? |

I'm out of clues and hoping for someone else to step in. |

I then go to Boinc, Advanced, Select Computer, Hostname (dropdown menu), select "localhost", and this automatically populates the password field. OK button. I don't know if this still works with V6, but try it again, WITHOUT putting anything in either field. |
