What should I have done differently? I'm on a Mac, running BOINC Mgr 5.10.45. I used tar to dump the contents of /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data, erased the hard drive and reinstalled everything, then used tar to restore the BOINC files. When I tried running BOINC, I got a message saying that permissions were not set correctly and I needed to reinstall BOINC Mgr. I eventually gave up trying to restore and just started a new work unit, losing about three weeks of progress. Bummer. Here's the detailed steps of what I did: 1) > cd /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/ 2) > tar cvf ~/boincdata.tar 3) erase hard drive, reinstall MAC OS, reinstall BOINC Mgr 4) > sudo mv /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data-old 5) > sudo mkdir /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data 6) change permissions, owner and group on BOINC Data to match the old one. 7) > cd /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data 8) > sudo tar xvf ~/boincdata.tar Thanks, Pat |

What was in BOINC Data? ALL of the BOINC programs and xmls, plus ALL of the sub-folders for the projects (and their sub-folders), plus the 'slots' folders, etc? |
