I don't mind all the updates, but the last three BOINC manager updates had problems, I had to play around with Windows Security each time.
For version 8.2.11, I had to turn off Windows Security completely to connect to local host, but Statistics and Disk Usage tabs are blank. I have shutdown BOINC Manager, rebooted windows and restarted BOINC, but it will not run any tasks.
Uninstalling 8.2.11 for now.
Any other reports?

I have just installed it on Windows 10, I don't see those problems.
Which Windows are you using, how did you install BOINC (as a service, or normal)?
Are the other tabs showing normal traffic?

What if you keep BOINC running, but run Fresco (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=15728), does that show the same problems?

installed by Administrator, windows 11, normal install. I uninstalled 8.2.11 and rolled back to 8.2.8, normal install, failing to connect to local host. I love windows 11, not. I still have windows security disabled.

I remember only that the install didn't terminate because it was searching for .msi file not found
I tryed also to instal previous version but the reply was the same: .msi file not found

So the only way to exit from this problem was to uninstal BOINC with Revo Uninstall and than instal again the 8.2.9 version and now is working in a righty way

A next time this happens, immediately reinstall the version you upgraded from. This is a problem in Windows where it forgets where the uninstaller of BOINC lives. That can be fixed by installing the exact same version over itself with a repair install, to fix paths and files.

Yeah, there was an issue like that: I switched tine installer engine, and unfortunately made an error with the original MSI preservation.
Should have been fixed for a long time.
But as you also wrote, this is an old issue, but originally you told that there are other issues. What are the issues you were talking about?

May be I explained not in a correct way my problem (excuse me, I'm italian), but the meaning of my words is that I never encountered this issue in the past 24 years.

That was johnr, the original poster.

For version 8.2.11, I had to turn off Windows Security completely to connect to local host, but Statistics and Disk Usage tabs are blank.

I have Windows Security always on, and have never experiences these issues.
So either there are some weird custom restrictions, on the whole device should be scanned for malware.
