Since updating to 8.2.9, the BOINC screen saver has started appearing if I am away for a few minutes. It never used to do that, and as you might have gathered from the title, is probably useless for the task anyway. Where is the setting to turn it off? I looked through the options and could not find it. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

You do it in the Windows settings and change it from the BOINC screen saver to none. Burn in from leaving the same thing on the screen for hours on end does not happen with modern LED screens. Screen savers are a relic from the CRT monitors I grew up with. |

So did the BOINC update change that setting? Seems a little odd. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

In reply to adrianxw's message of 7 Apr 2026: So did the BOINC update change that setting? Seems a little odd. It will have done. I have never set a screen saver manually on Tiny11 (cut down version of Win11) that I run in a VM just for BOINC. That had the screensaver set to use the BOINC one. I have just switched it to none. It will on OLED. Thanks Jord, Worth knowing if I replace current screen or get a laptop that has one. |

There's an option in the BOINC installer that sets that, yes. And sometimes that option resets to default, which means it's set to enabled. |
