With the latest BOINC manager (8.2.9) I've been frequently seeing the pop-up message "Communicating with BOINC client. Please wait..." It happens once or twice a day and it appears to stop all updating of the BOINC Manager Tasks window. I just click the Cancel button and everything continues normally. I don't understand what the pop-up is for. Even if it is reporting a problem, the problem always seems to be temporary and not require any intervention by me. I run BOINC expecting that, for the most part, it will do its own thing and not get in my way. This unnecessary pop-up window is definitely getting in my way. ;-) |

Is your BOINC data directory white-listed with you AV programme? I've had AV programmes in the past get over excited about BOINC, and causing issues with the Manager communicating with the client is one of the symptoms. The more Tasks you have running and the larger your cache, the more likely it is the issue will occur. I've never had to click cancel, after a few seconds it would re-establish it's connection and the message goes away. With the BOINC data directory white-listed about the only time the message comes up is when suspending or resuming large numbers of Tasks. And even then, it's only very occasional and for just a second or 3. Grant Darwin NT. |

Is your BOINC data directory white-listed with you AV programme? I get it occasionally on my Linux box. I do have ClamAV but I only run it manually, usually when I suspect an email attachment, I can then warn other half who has a windows machine that she gets joint emails on. |
