BOINC task freezes when attempting to add projects - repeatedly. Even after reboots. Have to kill the PID. Specifically, the freeze occurs when adding a project as an existing user, it freezes when verifying the user name and password. Have tried purging and reinstalling BOINC (after rebooting) when same result. |

You can stop posting all that system info. The boinc client version would actually be useful. I believe I had the same thing happen on Mint 21. All of a sudden I got http transient errors when uploading WUProp results on Mint 21 and 5x Raspberry Pi I believe it was on 8.0.4 and tried upgrading to 8.2.8 but could not add any project back after a boinc purge. The client would shut down when adding projects. Currently updating Mint packages and will try an older boinc client version if I can get one besides 7.18 thats available with Mint 21. |

It was either updating Mint 21 or 7.18 that worked for me. |

In reply to Tex's message of 30 Dec 2025: BOINC client is the same as the manager - 8.0.4 First of all, this is an old version. Second, we don't support builds that are not built by us (check my previous post with the link). If you don't want to install our vanilla build - then please report this error to the package maintainer of your distro BOINC maintainer. For any insight, check my BOINC Development Blog. |

Recently WUProp changed their URL. Please check if you still have an old URL and change to the new one. BOINC maintainer. For any insight, check my BOINC Development Blog. |

In reply to Vitalii Koshura's message of 30 Dec 2025: In reply to mmonnin's message of 30 Dec 2025: The URL change was not related. Older versions should be made available for DL in the PPA. 7.18 fixed the issue for me until WUProp's SSL completely broke today |

In reply to mmonnin's message of 30 Dec 2025: Older versions should be made available for DL in the PPA. 7.18 fixed the issue for me until WUProp's SSL completely broke today We decided to support 4 latest stable versions. Main reason for that is that we don't support older versions, and we will not release any patches for them. Also, we do encourage users to use the latest versions of our software that includes a lot of new functionality that is very valuable for the projects (e.g. with client version 7.18 you have no possibility to run any task from BOINC Central). Regarding PPA, we support our own storage that includes all the OSs we support, and this is much easier than support several different solutions for different OSs. Also, since a while, we publish all the packages on GitHub, so if you are really interested in some completely outdated build - you can try to find it there and install manually. BOINC maintainer.
