I have BOINC client 8.2.8 now on a Raspberry Pi 4 B with 8GB RAM and Debian 12 (bookworm), but I also tried to install it on a Raspberry Pi 2 B with 1GB RAM using the instructions on https://boinc.berkeley.edu/linux_install.php?action=submit&os_num=0&version_num=2&build=alpha for Debian 11 (bullseye) armv7l, but that doesn't work since there is no armhf version. On both systems I could install Podman. Hit:3 https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/linux/alpha/bullseye bullseye InRelease ... N: Skipping acquire of configured file 'main/binary-armhf/Packages' as repository 'https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/linux/alpha/bullseye bullseye InRelease' doesn't support architecture 'armhf' Will there be an armhf (e.g. armv7l) version of the latest boinc-client for Debian 11 or later? |

In reply to mobluse's message of 28 Dec 2025: Will there be an armhf (e.g. armv7l) version of the latest boinc-client for Debian 11 or later? I will check if this is something that we can provide. BOINC maintainer. For any insight, check my BOINC Development Blog. |

I have pushed into the nightly (important, nightly only: no alpha, no stable) channel packages for arm32. Please use this instructions to install it: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/linux_install.php Please report if anything doesn't work as intended. BOINC maintainer. Thanks! It seems to work now on a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Rev 1.1 with Raspbian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) armv7l. Notice from BOINC |

I update it and it gets updated, but now the boinc-client doesn't seem to run. It worked before and I could update it and the updated version worked, but for at least the last two nightly updates it doesn't work. I now have 8.3.0-3764. Version 8.3.0-3744 worked, and some later too, I believe. I updated using: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade I tested if it runs using: $ boinccmd --get_state can't connect to local host Also boinctui cannot connect. OS: Raspbian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) armv7l Host: Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Rev 1.1 |

Run this command and look for the errors: journalctl -u boinc-client -n 100 -f I suggest you to open a ticket on GitHub for better tracking and attach the log you receive from running the command above. BOINC maintainer. For any insight, check my BOINC Development Blog. |

Before I upgraded, but now I used apt purge, and had to reconfigure my boinc installation from scratch, and then boinc-client 8.3.0-3764 worked! Maybe something in the configuration files or the data changed so that you need to purge and reinstall to get it to work. |
