In reply to robsmith's message of 21 Apr 2026: Your suggestion sounds plausible, but there is one part of any BONC project that is all too often overlooked - the link between the BOINC project and the related academics. This link give the project some credence, helps develop the algorithms deployed in the apps. If the academics who started the project have lost interest, moved on, or have had their funding removed then they may not be happy to allow third party to deploy "their pet" - which is a great shame, but not unknown. Bear in mind that this is a pay-to-play project, you have to buy your own sensor, so the user has a little more investment in this project than typical ones. Having said that, there have been no new sensors available for years and if you want to take part now you have to home-brew an off the shelf sensor to work. But the admins have had a lot of personal issues, so I don't hold out any hope of a return. We had a good run though. |
