The 8.2.4 APK appears to now be available.

Trivia from a day of usage:

On five devices- one ran benchmarks (the Google TV), and on the two phones I've checked, they no longer have Einstein in the "Add Project" list (they both run Einstein and Asteroids, per the release notes on GitHub, any projects already added should be 'missing' from the list since they're already running).

So far they all run and upload tasks properly.

The battery issue popped up on an Android 9 phone (with battery level of 83%).

Which is a Known bug, see GitHub #5305 for progress on its development.

If I remember correctly, I had to disable (set BOINC to UNRESTRICTED use) in the 'App battery usage' section in the power settings for my phones.

Even with that disabled, I occasionally get the Android battery issue message lasting for a few minutes.

I haven't been running BOINC lately on most of my devices (wifi issues) but have noticed for the A-9, the context is:
* BOINC running in background; no tasks (aformentioned wifi issues)
* Also playing a specific game (Shop Titans); app size is 1.25 GB +, and a "3 hour memory usage" of 230 MB + after at least 20-30 minutes of play

It would occasionally show up in other circumstances, but most often when playing that specific game, even if BOINC is paused (with or without tasks). And on the other devices (except the 9 and the Google TV), they do allow "Battery: Unrestricted".

How come this battery percentage feature isn't just removed completely, to fix this issue once and for all?

Lol! That would be too easy of a "fix" for the developers.

From what I vaguely remember, it didn't start (for me) happening until around the time the slider switched from allowed minimum 0%, to 10%. (Incidental trivia, most of my current devices started use after the switch.)

Separate trivia: on my newest phone (fresh install of BOINC, 8.2.4 only one downloaded so far), benchmarks still haven't run. Have had the phone since this past Friday (1 week as of today, Thursday).

EDIT: From one of the few times I looked at the "developer notes", I was under the impression that when performing a "new" install/update, BOINC 'should' run a benchmark the next time it runs.

I know that might be the impression from the developer notes but my experience is that on all the platforms I use I have to manually run benchmarks. If I don't the initial estimates of run time are much wilder.

That's been my experience too; the "obvious" issue would be how to do it on an Android device.

Just looked for the option and not found it, I have never bothered with it on my phone where I have just accepted tasks take a long time.
