In reply to robsmith's message of 17 Mar 2026: Good luck with your taxes.....Thank you! I checked my data with the tax authorities data, and everything is totally OK. I will even get a couple of thousand Crowns back, in April. So, I'm done with the taxes for 2025. |

In the mean time, I'll do my taxes, which is extremely easy in this country. It's a 5 minutes operation. After retiring from NHS I had to fill in tax returns for a few years of self employment. Those days have now passed and my contact is restricted to looking and confirming they are not taking lots off my pension that they shouldn't be. Prior to that, it used to take me about fifteen minutes so still not very much in WCG timescales! |

I'm retired and I spent more time than probably all of you just uploading all the forms for my tax lady. My late wife used to take care of this stuff for me. And that gets a double :-( |

Sorry for your loss Bill. Taxes are hard enough without the added sadness. Grumpy Swede, I'm so very jealous of the simplicity of your taxes that they don't eat up hours of your time to do. |

In reply to Hans Sveen's message of 19 Mar 2026: Maybe something is about to happen soon....Well, the site has never been "down" per se. It has always replied, but only with the "Scheduled Maintenance" message. That's the only message from the WCG IP-address (199.241.161.110) Edit: As of now though, BOINC does download the master_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml file. Not the usual old and larger one, with everything it contained, but at least one with the important part, with a link to the scheduler. So there seems to be some progress now. And a request for new work, now at least gives a meaningful reply, showing that they seem to be preparing for the comeback. 19/03/2026 12:14:08 | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: Requested by project. 19/03/2026 12:14:08 | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for CPU 19/03/2026 12:14:10 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request failed: Error 403 |

It's actually differences between the URL to the scheduler from the old "larger" "master_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml" The old file have this URL to the scheduler: https://scheduler.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/fcgi And the new much smaller file have: http://scheduler.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/cgi/cgi, It's not "https", and there's other differences too, in the new URL to the scheduler. Both versions gets Error 403 though. (403 Forbidden Request forbidden by administrative rules) So, we're not there yet. The question is if we will get there before the weekend? |

So, we're not there yet. The question is if we will get there before the weekend? It's 2:30 PM on Thursday afternoon in Toronto almost a week has passed. Based on previous outrages, to be safe, I'll hedge my bet on sometime in the next month and keep my Android phones on Asteroids and Einstein. |

In reply to Dr Who Fan's message of 19 Mar 2026: I'll hedge my bet on sometime in the next month and keep my Android phones on Asteroids and Einstein. Whelp...I'm almost in transit. So my hope is that it'll come up before Wednesday. Otherwise I have 2 computers, who are sitting on probably close to 1500 completed tasks, that won't be powered back up until sometime around Thanksgiving. Heck, this computer has 460 waiting to upload. |

Got one new WU. However, it does not show up in the results page. Probably because the "new" Postgres DB isn't synced with the "old" DB, which still is used to show the results. Also all .PNG files was deleted at start, and did not download again. |

But I'm only 70 years old, and I do not expect to kick the bucket before WCG is back :-) |

June, but which year Dave? We all know that the WCG calendar has a random number of days in the month, hours in the day, and months in the year. And all vary in a random manner on an hourly basis ;-) |

And I've fired off the 3 computers that had been shutdown because of the heat, it's 110F outside and 96F inside, and uploaded the tasks that were sitting there waiting. Two of the computers are bedded down for the summer now, this one and the other will go into my checked luggage for next weeks flight when I flee Lake Hades Arizona for Anchorage. |
