OpenAI and Hugging Face partner to address security incident during model evaluation

What happened during this incident
Last week, Hugging Face disclosed a new kind of security incident after they detected and contained an AI agent that compromised their infrastructure, something we expect to become more commonplace with the proliferation of increasingly cyber-capable models. After investigating, we now know that this particular incident was driven by a combination of OpenAI models — including GPT‑5.6 Sol and an even more capable pre-release model, all with reduced cyber refusals for evaluation purposes — while being internally tested on a benchmark⁠(opens in a new window) of cyber capabilities.

We consider this incident to be an unprecedented cyber incident, involving state-of-the-art cyber capabilities, and are responding accordingly. We are sharing preliminary findings at this stage to help defenders understand what happened and to help calibrate on what models are now capable of. We will continue to conduct a thorough investigation alongside Hugging Face and will share more details on the vulnerabilities, incident, and findings when our investigation is complete.

Doesn't want to connect to my computer running XUbuntu26.04.

Appears when connected to OH's windows laptop as expected. Old FP3 connects to both without issue. Several cables tried and make no difference.

Is it
a. a hardware issue with new phone
b. a software issue with new phone
c. a hardware issue with computer
d. a software issue with computer
e. some weird issue between Xubuntu26.04 and Android16?

I am now going back to Fairphone's fora to see if anyone has gems of wisdom for me!

I fight with my Android phone all the time trying to get it to get connected to my PC so I can grab images off it. Turns out, Android went to the extreme in always defaulting the USB-C connection to be for power. Damn near impossible to find the USB menu for toggling the USB-C connection to be parsed as a data connection first. Have to turn on Developer mode on the phone to expose the USB connection profile that includes data transfer.

My problem is that having found the hidden items nested in the menu and set it all up, it still doesn't want to play with my computer. My choices are a usb3 stick to transfer stuff from the phone, take out the micro sd card or use Bluetooth. None of those choices are really satisfactory.

I was thinking the problem was purely a Fairphone one but a little searching implies not.

I see I'm not the only one that has issues connecting my phone to my PC's on occasion, mostly to my Ubuntu 22 box.

My Asus Zenfone 8 has a default file manager app that has the option Network Place in its menu. It shows the computer in the living room, and sometimes when my NAS is on, that as well.

I use that as I find the cable option drops the connection mid-transfer more often than not.

I doubt that a next phone will have this option. I may want to keep the Zenfone around as "send to" option from other phones, and then continue from there to the PC.

Interesting. I must be lucky. This is the first phone I have had problems with cable data transfer with. Every other one I have used it has been rock solid.

Well, the system I have here has USB-trouble. It happens every so many days that I boot the system and the mouse and keyboard aren't detected. It resulted in me putting their dongle into a USB 2.0 hub that's now connected to the back of the machine, as the front-side USB ports are all now dysfunctional.

It still happens that the mouse and keyboard aren't found when I enter Windows, but a flick of the on/off switch on the hub fixes that.

The motherboard is slowly dying, as not all functions of my mouse and keyboard still work. For instance, I can't scroll through everything with the mouse. Tried different mice, tried different ports, all the same. I'm just waiting for it to completely go, before I replace it with a Gigabyte Aorus I have laying about.

Update on both phone and Ubuntu. Now working. As to whether it will be as solid as it has always been on old phone, time will tell!
