More news about CPDN and how it's trying to come back up. I've locked the other thread and will allow views and comments in this thread, however, please leave the attacks out of it. Any such posts will be removed. |

Andy Bowery wrote: I am afraid there has been an issue with the underlying storage of CPDN. The storage of CPDN is held on a GPFS storage unit, this has experienced an issue with one of it's power cooling modules. The servers of the project are unaffected, however the download files of the project are held on the GPFS storage and these are inaccessible. This will mean that we cannot start the project again until this is solved.Andy Bowery wrote: We are going to use down period for the chance to take a backup of the database. So I will need to disconnect the database from the website for 24 hours for this to occur. Now as we have no slave database machine we have to make regular downtimes in order to take dumps of the database. A new slave machine has been ordered so we only need to do this for a finite period. |

Then go do that on their forums. Then go do that on the BOINC Projects email list. Then go do that in private mails to the admins. But not here. I'm sure we can all stand a little critique, but your continuous onslaught made the last thread cringeworthy and had a negative look on BOINC as a whole. You may have spoken the truth about many things, and you can continue to do so, but please do so without the ad hominem attacks and the attitude. Just think how you would want to be spoken to/about on these or other forums. |

May be minimal progress. Last two lines from my event log. 09/07/2018 21:10:09 | climateprediction.net | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks I don't remember the Schedular request completed bit having come up before (even though the servers are still showing as down. |

Just got this notice on my BOINC program Notice tab: climateprediction.net: Notice from BOINC I can access the web site with no problems using https. I see the pending trickles from the 1 model I have were uploaded about 3 hours ago. I will have to wait until the model finishes before I change to https on that PC. |

I wouldn't change anything yet anyway. My three remaining tasks reported either last night or this morning but the new url doesn't work yet despite what BOINC is telling us to do. Andy has been emailed about this so either knows or will soon. Les, myself or one of the others will spread the word as soon as there is a prospect of getting work. |

AFAIK, people shouldn't have to change the URL as it'll redirect to https when it finds http. That is, when https has been set up correctly. |

This is being worked on as we speak. |

As Les says, this is being worked on. AFAIK, people shouldn't have to change the URL as it'll redirect to https when it finds http. That is, when https has been set up correctly. In this case the url that comes up by default when attaching is not the same as the https: url but whether that is because the given url has a redirect to http(s)://climateprediction.net I am not sure. I could probably find out by searching through my event log as I have http debug enabled. |

Don't bother, I've just done that and reported back. CPDN uses two separate servers (well, lots of them, really, but only two concern us here) Everything concerned with BOINC (attaching, checking your account, help desk etc.) goes through https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/ This is the address you should use for attaching. Everything to do with climate (the science of predicting it etc.) goes through https://www.climateprediction.net/ That site is working for browsers, but doesn't work for BOINC. Just at the moment, BOINC needs to get one tiny piece of information from it after attaching, but a certificate problem is preventing that final step. So, if you are attached - stay that way. Don't change anything. If you need to attach, await further news. |

Thanks Richard, attaching works with new url for me. So will leave it attached with that. Will await further news. |

Did you get through the next stage, 'fetching master file', correctly? Never mind, still failing here. 10/07/2018 11:49:45 | climateprediction.net | [sched_op] Fetching master file 10/07/2018 11:49:46 | climateprediction.net | [sched_op] Reason: Master file request failedI've sent them the full SSL log pinpointing the error, but I don't think anyone is listening any more. No-one who knows how to drive a server, that is. |

Well, I was going to gatecrash that meeting and I was working on preparing a workflow document explaining last week's problem. But in testing it, I find there's progress. https://www.climateprediction.net/ is now configured to process PHP, so https://www.climateprediction.net/get_project_config.php works in a broswer and will be usable for attachment. But they've got the same SSL configuration error on https://www.climateprediction.net/ as they had on https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/ last week, so the BOINC client can't connect to it. They've fixed that one once, they can fix it on the other server the same way. I just wish it didn't take several days for the lightbulb to come on over every baby step. |

I remember breaking down once in a stream of traffic heading into Johannesburg, and the driver behind me having such a long loud party with his hooter. It didn't start my car. The only thing that shut him up was inviting him to start it while I held down his hooter. |

Buy quick, while stocks last. The shop might be open but the shelves still need stocking. 10/07/2018 16:24:11 | climateprediction.net | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 10/07/2018 16:24:11 | climateprediction.net | Project has no tasks available |
