Boinc version: 7.4.42
Mac version: 10.10.3

Problem: Any time I run Boinc, the kernel_task process, as viewed through Activity Monitor, spikes up from its usual 1% to %5 of the CPU to 50% to 60% of the CPU and stays there. If I quit Boinc or if I snooze it, kernel_task returns to normal.

It seems clear that something Boinc is doing is causing the kernel to work extremely hard. This means on my laptop an increase in heat and noisy fan speed, which was the first indication of a problem.

I've tried restarting the computer but the problem persists.

Anyone else noticing this or have any suggestions on how to fix?
